Information

Please note that this feature is only included in the enterprise edition of CIB seven.

Batch operation

From the CIB seven start page, hover over the Cockpit tab and choose Batches.

You will see an overview of currently in progress batches and ended batches.

Click the second tab Batch Operations to start new batches.

Define Operation

From the Operation selector, you can choose various batch operations that are sectioned into 4 general topics:

  • deletion & retries
    • Stop running process instances
    • Delete finished process instances
    • Delete decision instances
    • Set retries of Jobs belonging to the process instances
  • modification & state
    • Set variables to process instances
    • Set retries of external tasks belonging to process instances
    • Suspend running process instances
    • Activate suspended process instances
  • cleanup & removal
    • Set removal time to historic process instances
    • Set removal time to historic decision instances
    • Set removal time to historic batches
  • Messaging
    • Correlate Message

Depending on the selected operation, various dependent input fields will be shown where data input might be optional or required to run the operation.

You can then select the instances that should be affected by the batch operation. The displayed instances can be filtered by using the filter bar above the listing.

Note: Keep in mind that selecting all of the instances can create a high load on the database and application server when there is a high number of results.

The search query can also be copied as a link for future reference.

Clicking on the disk button allows you to store the query in the local browser storage. You can set a name for the query and recall it by clicking the disk button again in future searches.

Certain operations can only be done on running instances. Likewise, some can only be run on finished instances. A notice will be shown when the type of operation is selected.

Define Operation

On the next screen you can confirm the chosen operation. When you extend the Request payload section you can see a summary of the changes. In the section with extended information, you also see a path to the REST endpoint that will process the request as well as the payload of the request.

Clicking Execute will run the batch operation and the results will be shown on the next screen.

Results

Here you get the current status of the operation. If successful, it is indicated by a green Operation Successful message. In case of errors they will be shown here respectively.
